MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Rensselaer field hockey team jumped out to an early lead only to watch Montclair State score the next four goals and RPI could not come all the way back, losing for the first time this season, 4-3.  Three different student-athletes scored for Rensselaer, which is now 1-1.  The homestanding Red Hawks improve to 2-0.
Kristiina Baker (Bolton, MA / Nashoba Regional) opened the scoring when she converted a breakaway with a shot that beat the goalie on the short side just 4:26 into the game.  Junior 
Megan McNamara (Johnstown, NY / Johnstown) earned the assist.  
Montclair State stormed back with the next four goals of the game, including two within 1:01in the first half.  Diana Colombo scored twice for the Red Hawks.
RPI pulled to within two goals (4-2) on an eight-yard chip shot by senior 
Lisa Pak (Methuen, MA/Methuen) at 48:44 and to within one nine minutes later.  The Red Hawks' third goal was scored on a three-on-none breakaway, finished by freshman 
Morgan Danner (McLean, VA / Langley).  
Margaret Chowaniec (Burlington, CT / Lewis Mills) earned an assist on the goal, the first of Danner's career.
Rensselaer freshman 
Briana Earle (Baldwinsville, NY / C. W. Baker) finished with 14 saves, including eight in the first half.  Montclair's Emina Udrjia stopped six shots.
