SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Sarah Wetmore (Sudbury, Mass.) scored a game-high 19 points to lead Rensselaer to a 69-59 women's basketball win over Skidmore College in Liberty League action at the Sports and Recreation Center. The Thoroughbreds are 5-12 overall and 2-4 in Liberty play, while RPI improves to 13-3 and 5-1.

The Red Hawks came out quick, hitting four of their first five three-point attempts to grab an early 16-8 lead. Skidmore settled down to close the gap to six at the half, 27-21.

RPI opened the second half with a 10-0 run to grab a 37-21 lead with 17:05 to play. The Red Hawks led by as many as 20 in the second, before the Thoroughbreds made a late run to close to within seven, 60-53 with 2:35 to play. That was as close as they would get.

Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam) led Skidmore with 16 points and two steals. Kellye Caufield (Monroe, Conn.) had a double/double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Laurel Brown (South Hamilton, Mass.) contributed 11 points and three assists off the bench.

For the Red Hawks, Whitney Coleman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) scored 14 points and Elizabeth Barker (Suffield, Conn.) had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Skidmore will host Vassar on Saturday (2pm), while RPI travels to Union (2pm).
