TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer women's soccer team got two goals from freshman Shannon Maguire (Randolph, MA/Randolph) on its way to defeating Utica College, 5-0, at East Campus Stadium. With the win, the Engineers conclude their season with a 6-11-1 record, while the Pioneers move to 4-12-0.

Maguire blasted a shot home in the 37th minute for the eventual game-winning goal. Eight minutes later, classmate Kelsey Byrne (Rye, NH/Longwood) got in behind the defense on a break-away and slotted a shot past Utica netminder Lindsey Valentine (Philadelphia, PA/Cooperstown) to give RPI a 2-0 advantage.

Rensselaer held a 6-1 edge in shots after 45 minutes of play.

Senior Jessica Batty (Lexington, MA/Lexington) put the hosts up 3-0 in the 61st minute, when her shot from the right side of the 18 found its way inside the far post. The goal was Batty's second of the season and sixth of her career.

Less than minute later Maguire notched her second of the game and team-leading 12th of the year off of a rebound in front of the net. Freshman Tessa McGee (Washington, DC/Maret School) capped off the scoring in the 75th minute on a shot from the outside the box for her first collegiate tally.

Engineer's senior goalie Jaclyn Henry (West Warwick, RI/West Warwick) saved the only shot she saw to earn her third shutout of the season. Valentine made seven saves at the other end of the field. Rensselaer ended up with a 20-2 advantage in shots, including 12-1 on goal.
