Women's Soccer Suffers 5-0 Loss at Middlebury

Engineers fall to the Panthers

MIDDLEBURY, VT – Behind goals by five different players, including a goal and an assist by Amy Schuleter, to lead Middlebury to a 5-0 victory over Rensselaer in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Panthers move to 2-0 on the season, while the Engineers fall to 3-3-1.

Middlebury jumped out early as Kirsten Lundquist found the back of the net just 2:07 into the contest. Margaret Owen carried the ball down the right wing before centering a pass to Lundquist for the quick redirect. Annie Rowell netted her second of the season at 17:39 hitting a beautiful one-touch volley after a great feed from Katie Ruymann.

Leading 2-0 at the intermission, Lindsay Walker made it a 3-0 game with another redirect goal, this time off a feed from Amy Schlueter at the 49:34 mark. The lead grew to 4-0 in the 60th minute, as Hannah Newman notched the first of her career on a breakaway. Schlueter wrapped up the scoring with the first goal of her career, converting a dish from Paola Cabonargi.

Lauryn Torch (5 saves) and Jocelyn Remmert (1 saves) combined to earn the shutout for Middlebury, while Melissa Pinsonneault made four stops for the Engineers.
