TROY, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State scored single goals in each half and the Cardinals held Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to two shots on goal on their way to a 2-0 victory in the 2009 RPI Classic at Renwyck Field. Plattsburgh improves to 2-0 while Rensselaer falls to 1-1.

Sophomore midfielder Lindsey Keyser (Keeseville, NY) opened the scoring at 21:25 when she brought the ball up from midfield and sent a high shot that arced over the head of RPI goalie Jaclyn Henry (West Warwick, RI) and into the net. The visitors doubled their lead on a penalty kick goal by junior forward Helen Giroux (Chazy, NY) at 76:52.

The Cardinals got two saves from freshman goalkeeper Ricci Celia (Essex Junction, VT), while Henry stopped six shots for Rensselaer. Plattsburgh held a 21-2 overall advantage in shots.
