RPI men fall 192-108; Bombers women gain 195-98 victory

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's swimming and diving teams took on Ithaca College in dual meet action on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers men picked up at 192-108 win, while the Ithaca women were victorious by a 195-98 score.

Rookie Miguel Hummel (Pittsburgh, NY/Fordham Prep) had another outstanding week in the diving events, winning the 1-meter event with a score of 252.97 points. He also won off the 3-meter board with a mark of 241.27 points.

Also having success for the Engineers men was junior captain Luke Flanagan (Old Bethpage, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage-JFK), who won the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:52.53. Also performing well was rookie David James (Bakersfield, CA/Liberty), who won the 1,000-freestyle with a time of 10:33.87. 

James also finished second in the 500-free event, posting a time of 5:10.22.

In the women's events, sophomore Tina Belletete (Winchendon, MA/Gardner) had a solid meet, winning the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:19.76. She was also victorious in the 1000-free with a time of 11:06.17. Additionally, she also posted a solid time of 2:16.44 in the 200-butterfly to finish second overall.

Senior diver Grace Fitzgerald (Manchester, NH/Manchester) also performed well in the diving events, winning the 3-meter for the second straight week with a mark of 229.90 points. She also placed second off the 1-meter board with a score of 211.35 points.

Additionally, the women's 200-freestyle relay team of Carly Antonucci (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central), Kathleen McDowell (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), Christina Provenza (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) and Mairead Lyons (Leominster, MA/Leominster) won with a time of 1:46.20.

Rensselaer is back in the pool on November 13, traveling to Vassar for a 1pm dual meet against the Brewers.
