TROY, N.Y. – Senior goaltender Zane Kalimba (Saddle Brook, NJ/Flin Fon) stopped all 41 shots he faced and six different players recorded goals as the Princeton University men's hockey shutout Rensselaer, 7-0, in the 33rd Annual Bank of America Big Red Freakout! With the win, the Tigers improve to 11-13-3 (7-11-2 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers fall to 17-14-3 (10-8-2 ECACH).

Junior Taylor Fedun (Edmonton, AB/Spruce Grove) got the scoring started at 14:20 of the first period, when his shot from the outside the left hash marks beat RPI freshman netminder Bryce Merriam (Bethel Park, PA/Topeka RoadRunners) short-side. A lone assist went to senior Jody Pederson (Smithers, BC/Fort McMurray)

Kalemba (7-9-3) made 20 of his save in the first period alone, allowing Princeton to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Tigers made it 2-0 at 3:30 of the second frame, when senior Mark Magnowski (Winnipeg, MB/Sioux Falls) threw the puck off a body in front of the RPI cage and it found its way over the goal line. Junior Matt Arhontas (Naperville, IL/Waterloo) earned an assist on Magnowski's sixth of the year.

Sophomore Marc Hagel (Hamilton, ON/Hamilton) pushed the visitor's advantage to 3-0 at 12:41 of the second. Magnowski caught Merriam out of the net and sent a pass up the slot to Hagel for his fourth of the season.

Two minutes later, sophomore Brody Zuk (Saskatoon, SK/Nanaimo) found himself alone on the doorstep and roofed a shot over Merriam's glove for his first collegiate marker. Freshmen Rob Kleebaum (Sherwood Park, AB/Sherwood Park) and Will MacDonald (Atlanta, GA/Indiana) picked up helpers.

MacDonald and sophomore Derrick Pallis (Medfield, MA/Noble and Greenough School) combined to score the final three goals for the Tigers, including two 31 second apart, with less than four minutes to play.

Merriam (4-4) made 25 saves before giving way to sophomore Joey Harkenrider (Manhatttan Beach, CA/LA Hockey Club) with just over three minutes remaining in the game.

After the game, Rensselaer honored its five seniors in an on-ice ceremony. Erik Burgdoerfer (East Setauket, NY/New York Apple Grove), Christian Jensen (Watchung, NY/Chicago Steel), Peter Merth (New Westminster, BC/Burnaby Express), Paul Kerins (Weston, ON/North York Rangers) and Garett Vassel (Westhampton, NY/New York Apple Core) joined family members at center ice before taking a skate around the rink.

The Engineers are back on the ice next weekend when they close out their ECAC Hockey regular season schedule at Colgate and 10th-ranked Cornell. Princeton hosts Yale and Brown.
