ITHACA, N.Y. – The Bombers' men's soccer team hosted Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon, playing to a scoreless tie in two overtimes against the Engineers.  Ithaca is now 0-3-3 on the season, while RPI moves to 3-2-1 overall.

Junior Evan Kirshner (Haverford/Haverford, Pa.), who entered the match after halftime, made seven saves -- one short of his career high. He made two saves in overtime and two others – both on shots by junior Ryan Gracy (Oneonta/West Oneonta) – in the final seven minutes of regulation. Senior Justin Parlapiano (Stafford/Stafford Springs, Conn.), who started in goal, made one save to share the shutout.

Ithaca's best opportunity to win the game came in the 87th minute when senior Matt Baluzy (Franklin D. Roosevelt/Salt Point) was stuffed in front of the net by senior goalkeeper #Alex Penny (Northport/Northport).

Junior Julian Coy (Brentsville District/Bristow, Va.) had three shots in overtime, including one that Kirshner turned aside, and senior Blake Adams (Seton Hall Prep/Cedar Grove, N.J.) had the Engineers' final chance but his header was saved by Kirshner.

The Bombers return to play Tuesday, traveling to Marywood. The Engineers play their first home game of the season on Friday, opening Liberty League play against Clarkson (4pm).
