TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's swimming rolled to victory in a dual meet against Skidmore College, winning all but one event in the 26-event meet. The Engineers men won by a score of 152-76, while the RPI women were victorious by a score of 136-74.

Leading the way for the men was sophomore Ben LeRose (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette), who swam to victory in two individual races, while also picking up two relay wins.  He won the 200-individual medley in a time of 2:04.08 and the 100-freestyle with a mark of 49.38. 

Additionally, he swam the third leg of the victorious 200-medley relay team, which posted a time of 1:42.90. Other members of the relay included rookie Jared Gordon (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area) and juniors Kevin Boddie (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) and Luke Flanagan (Old Bethpage, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage-JFK).

The men's 400-free relay squad also won with a time of 3:21.33, powered by LeRose, Flanagan, senior Alex Updegrove (Carson City, NV/Carson) and junior Julian Schott (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan). Gordon, Schott and Flanagan also won individual events at the meet, taking the 100-backstroke (58.22), the 200-free (1:48.36) and the 50-free (23.41), respectively.

In the diving events, rookie Miguel Hummel (Pittsburgh, PA/Fordham Prep) claimed victory off the 3-meter board with a score of 304.85 points. He also won the 1-meter with a score of 280.20 points.

On the women's side, the Engineers saw a number of solid efforts, including senior captain Grace Fitzgerald (Manchester, NH/Manchester), who won both diving events. She had a score of 224.05 points to win the 1-meter and 252.90 points for the victory off the 3-meter board.

Sophomore Tina Belletete (Winchendon, MA/Gardner) paced the swimmers with three individual victories. She won the 200-free with a time of 2:05.05, the 200-IM in a mark of 2:20.02 and the 500-free in a time of 5:30.08.

Junior captain Carly Antonucci (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) was also a multiple winner, claiming victory in the 50-free with a time of 26.12. She also helped the 400-free relay team to a win with a mark of 3:53.54.  Sophomore Mairead Lyons (Leominster, MA/Notre Dame), who was also a member of the relay team, won the 1000-free in a time of 11:13.78.  

Other members of the relay team included sophomores Kathleen McDowell (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) and Christina Provenza (Millersville, MD/Severna Park).

Both squads return to action next weekend, hosting Hamilton on Saturday at Robison Pool (1pm). The meet will mark the final home meet for the Engineers senior class.
