BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team survived
RPI, 65-61 in overtime, to claim the 2011 Women's Basketball Tip-Off
Tournament Presented by the Inn at Brunswick Station Saturday at Morrell
Gymnasium.

The 11th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 2-0 with the win while the
Engineers fall to 1-2. Bowdoin's Jill Henrikson was named to the

RPI held the lead for the majority of Saturday's title match, but could
never pull away from the Polar Bears. The Engineers' biggest lead came
with 6:47 remaining after Lauren Hayes nailed a three-pointer to give
the visitors a 53-48 edge. Bowdoin locked down the Engineers on defense
and mounted a 6-0 surge over the ensuing three minutes, taking its first
lead of the half on a pair of Henrikson free throws with 2:51 to go, 54-53.

A jumper by Hayes regained the lead for RPI, 55-54 on the next
possession, but Ellery Gould's hoop-and-harm lay-in with a minute to
play gave Bowdoin a 57-55 edge. Jen Rock knotted it with a jumper for
RPI, but Amy Hackett regained the lead with a spinning lay-in with just
20 seconds left, 59-57. With seconds ticking down, Sarah Wetmore drove
the lane and rattled home an eight-footer to send the game into overtime.

Bowdoin scored the first four points of the overtime session and held
RPI to just 1-6 from the field in the extra session to clinch the win.
