POTSDAM, N.Y. - Clarkson scored five goals in the opening stanza and held Rensselaer off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game as the Golden Knights skated to a 10-0 victory over the Engineers in ECAC Hockey action on Friday at Cheel Arena.  The victory moves the Knights to 9-4-4 and 5-3-1 in conference play, while RPI is now 4-11-4 and 1-4-2 in the league.

The Golden Knights jumped out to a commanding five-score advantage in the opening stanza as senior Juana Baribeau (Amos, PQ/Lafleche College) got things going at the 9:03 mark.  Sophomore Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, ON/Ottawa Senators AA) made it a 3-0 game mid-way through the frame as she scored back-to-back goals at 13:31 and 15:29.

Sophomore Vanessa Gagnon (St. Constant, PQ/Dawson Blues) and senior Katelyn Ptolemy (Dinsmore, SK/Swift Current Diamond Energy) wrapped up the scoring in the frame to give the Knights the 5-0 goal advantage heading into the second period.

In the middle stanza, Clarkson continued to capitalize junior Danielle Skirrow (Trenton, ON/Durham Junior Lightning) scored at 8:13 to make it a 6-0 contest.  Rattray then gave the home team a seven-goal advantage as she completed her first career hat trick at 19:03 past rookie goalie Kelly O'Brien (Sussex, WI/Madison Capitols).

The third period saw the Golden Knights add three more tallies, including a power play marker at 4:06 by rookie Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, PQ/Ontario Hockey A Mavericks).

Clarkson proved dominant in shots for the game, holding the Engineers to just 11 shots over 60 minutes, while firing 37 of their own at the RPI net.  Sophomore netminder Erica Howe (Kanata, ON/Ottawa Senators AA) - who was recently named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month for November - played 44:06 between the pipes with six saves before giving way to rookie Emily Horn (Hamilton, ON/Brampton Jr Thunder).  She had five saves.

The Engineers, who fell victim to a large number of penalties and turnovers throughout the game, saw O'Brien finish with 21 saves over 40:38 played.  Rookie Brianna Piper (Oakville, ON/Toronto Jr. Aeros), who came in during the first and third periods, stopped six shots.

Rensselaer returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Canton for a 4pm game against St. Lawrence.  The Golden Knights host Union on Saturday, also at 4pm.
