TROY, N.Y. - Sophomore Rob Dewald extended his personal scoreless streak to over 600 minutes as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Skidmore College in a Liberty League game at Renwyck Field. The Engineers are now unbeaten in seven straight games (4-0-3) with a season record of 8-3-4 overall and 4-1-2 in the league. RPI remains in first place in the standings with 14 points. The Thoroughbreds are 9-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 and in a three-way tie for third place. Rensselaer has one league game remaining and Skidmore has two.

Dewald (Arlington, VA/Washington-Lee) needed help from the left post at a critical point to keep his personal streak and the team's unbeaten streak alive. With 5.9 seconds remaning in regulation, the visitors were awarded a penalty kill after a Rensselaer player was whistled for a hand ball in the box. Skidmore sophomore Adam Beek (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School) drilled the kick squarely off the left post and time expired before either team had another opportunity.

The overtime, like regulation, was back-and-forth with both teams having chances, but neither team was successful. Dewald, who is now 7-2-3, finished with four saves in 110:00 and has a personal scoreless streak of 611:51. That is believed to be a school record, surpassing Alex Penny's previous streak of 603.49, which was set in 2008.

Skidmore's Eli Kisselbach (Stamford, CT/Westhill) was outstanding on the other end of the field, making nine saves, including several lunging efforts. He had four stops in the first half, two in the second, two in the first 10-minute overtime and one in the second. He is now 9-4-2.

The Thoroughbreds held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks and RPI had a 20-18 advantage in shots.

Rensselaer, which holds a three-point lead in the standings, plays again on Saturday when it hosts Liberty League opponent Bard College at 2pm at Renwyck Field. Skidmore travels to Clarkson University on Saturday (2pm) before hosting Union College on October 27 at 2pm. Both of those games are league contests.
