TROY, N.Y. – Williams College jumped out to a quick start and never trailed Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on its way to a convincing 105-60 victory in a non-league men's basketball game at East Campus Arena. The No. 24 Ephs, who shot 69.2% in the first half and 58.0% for the game, improve to 5-0. The Engineers fall to 2-3.
 
Williams jumped out to a 10-0 lead two minutes into the contest and increased its margin throughout the half, thanks to sizzling shooting. As a team the Ephs made 27 of 39 first half shots, including 6 of 9 from three point range. They were also perfect on seven free throw attempts.
 
Junior Tyler Epley (Louisville, KY / Trinity) had 20 first half points as he made 8 of 12 shots from the floor. He also had three rebounds in 11 minutes of action. All nine other Williams players who got into the game in the first half also scored.
 
Defensively Williams held Rensselaer to 26.3% (10 of 38) shooting in the opening frame, including 4 of 17 (23.5%) from behind the arc.
 
Epley finished with 26 points and seven rebounds, while four others reached double figures in scoring. Among them was Michael Mayer (Durham, NC / Riverside), who had 12 points and 13 rebounds, and James Klemm (Highlands Ranch, CO / Heritage), who scored 14 points.
 
RPI's leading scorer was senior Brendan Farley (Burlington, MA / Burlington), who had nine points on three three-point baskets.
 
The Engineers are back in action this weekend when they host the Tri-State Shootout. Action begins on Friday at 6pm with RPI taking on St. Joseph's College at 8pm. Williams hosts Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at 5pm.
