Fane's goal came off a free kick service from senior forward
William Keddy-Hector towards the middle of the 18-yard box. Fane cut into open space and volleyed the ball past Cazenovia goalkeeper Riley Battaglini (six saves) at 93:11 to give the Engineers the victory.
Cazenovia took an early lead in the contest in the 25th minute as senior midfielder Dustin Gonzalez received a pass from Taras Stashkiv and tucked a shot into the lower right corner of the net past RPI goalkeeper

The Engineers responded early in the second half in the 49th minute on their first opportunity of the frame. Freshman forward
Matt Carberry beat Battaglini to tie the game at 1-1 at 48:10.
RPI continued to apply pressure in the second half, outshooting Cazenovia 10-5 in the frame. Fane nearly gave the Engineers the lead in regulation, but his header in the 76th minute hit the post.
Cazenovia held a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal for the game, while RPI held a 5-0 margin on corner kick opportunities.
RPI will host Ithaca College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. while Cazenovia will host Utica College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
