SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's cross country teams both posted victories in dual meets with Hamilton College. RPI's men's team, which is ranked 24th in the nation, is now 2-0, while the women are 1-1.
The Engineers men's team had five of the top six finishers over the 3-mile course at Saratoga State Park. Senior
Patrick Condon (Reading, MA / Reading Memorial) was second overall with a time of 15:40.89, followed by junior
Sean Quinn (Brookline, NH / Hollis Brookline), who ran a 15:42.36. Hamilton's Hashem Zikry (New York, NY /Collegiate School), a senior, won the race with a time of 15:26.51.
RPI's women's team had four of the top six finishers, led by senior Grace Tilton (Concord, NH / Concord), who ran an 18:46.72 to finish second overall. Senior Meredith Mayes (Hillsborough, NJ / Hillsborough) was second on the team and fourth overall at 18:59.11, followed by freshman Shannon Trant (Niskayuna, NY / Niskayuna), who was fifth with a time of 19:04.68.
The overall winner was Hamilton's Sarah Ohensian (Saratoga Springs, NY/Emma Willard), a junior who ran the 3-mile course in 18:28.45.
Both Rensselaer's and Hamilton's cross country teams compete next weekend in the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Mass. beginning at 12pm.
