HOME AGAIN: Following five consecutive games away from Troy, the Engineers are back home to face Vassar in the Liberty League opener for both schools.

BACK IN STADIUM: This is Rensselaer's third home game ... It lost it's first, 1-0 to Emmanuel, and won it's second, 4-0 over Johnson and Wales ... Those two contests were part of the Rensselaer Invitational.

LONG STAY: RPI plays its next five games at home ... Three of those contests are Liberty League games ... The Engineers next road trip is October 12-13 when they go to St. Lawrence and Clarkson.

RENSSELAER TO DATE: RPI opened the season with two victories in its first three games ... The Engineers then lost a weather-shortened game to Eastern Connecticut State and fell at SUNY New Paltz, a team that had been ranked nationally the week prior ... Rensselaer bounced back to win at Utica before having its game at Castleton washed out.

LEADING THE ENGINEERS: Senior Nikki Goodsell has three goals and four assists for 10 points, which leads the team in scoring ... Sara Rothschild is second with eight points, thanks to four goals, and Giana Abballe is third with seven points on three goals and one assist.

SHOT TAKERS: Junior Sara Rothschild has taken a team-high 20 shots in six games ... Two others, senior Nikki Goodsell and classmate Shannon Maguire, have 14 shots apiece ... Rothschild has 10 shots on goal, while Goodsell has seven.

SHOTS BY TEAMS: The Engineers hold a commanding 107-43 advantage in shots over the opposition this season ... Rensselaer has a 51-24 edge in the first half and a 56-19 difference in the second half.

IN GOAL: RPI has taken advantage of its depth in goal as three separate goalkeepers have played through the first six contests ... Deanna Amoia has played the bulk of the action, posting a 2-3-0 record in four games ... She has a 1.31 goals against average and a .625 save percentage.

SHUTOUTS: The Engineers have posted two shutouts, one by Deanna Amoia and one by the team ... RPI has been blanked two times, including a 1-0 loss to Emmanuel.

VASSAR TO DATE: The Brewers got off to a good start to the season, winning their first four games by a combined score of 8-2 ... Vassar has lost two of its last three games, including a 4-2 setback to Western Connecticut on Wednesday in its home opener ... Despite going down 3-0 in the first half, the Brewers battled back and narrowly missed tying the game in a hard-fought second half ... Lucy Brainerd and Chloe Wheeler scored for the Brewers ... Senior goalkeeper Ali Higgins had 12 saves in the loss, while Caitlin Avery had six saves for the Colonials.

LEADING THE BREWERS: Sophomore Chloe Wheeler has five goals and one assist for 11 points to lead Vassar ... Two others have four points, including Gavriella Kaplan, who has two goals ... Ali Higgins has played all seven games and is 4-2-0 with a 1.23 goals against average and a .795 save percentage.

AGAINST BREWERS LAST YEAR: Vassar took the lead on three occasions but Rensselaer took the lead for the final time with the game's final two goals for a 4-3 win in Poughkeepsie ... Both teams put forth an impressive offensive display all game, but in the 83rd minute RPI forward Giana Abballe broke the stalemate with a hard shot from the right side, ending the see-saw scoring run of both teams ... Sara Rothschild of RPI led all scorers with two goals ... Stephanie Vargas made four saves to earn the win ... Ali Higgins had three saves in the loss.

LEAGUE SCHEDULE CONTINUES: Following this game, RPI plays a non-league game against Elmira on Sunday at 3pm ... The Engineers then play seven of their next eight games against Liberty League opponents ... Three of Rensselaer's league games are at home, while the other five are on the road.
