SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer men's and women's swimming & diving teams returned to the pool following a six-week break and both teams were defeated by Union College. The Engineers' men lost 132-11 and the women were beaten 132-105.
Two on the men's team finished first, including junior Miguel Hummel, who won both diving competitions. He won the 3-meter with 279.70 points and the 1-meter with 336 points.
Maruti Kolluri earned victory in the 100-free with a time of 49.26.
For the women, Mairead Lyons won the 100-fly (1:00.92) and helped the 200-medley relay team to a win in a time of 1:59.31. Maggie Cullather won the 1-meter competition (254 points) and was second off the 3-meter board (259.80), finishing behind teammate Maddie Miller who won with 268.20 points.
Rensselaer's men are right back in the pool on Saturday when they host the Kumpf Invitational at Robison Pool. The women are idle until January 19 when they host the RPI Invitational.
