SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Angela Botiba scored 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Skidmore College women's basketball team to an 80-66 Liberty League win over Rensselaer.

The Thoroughbreds have won six straight and are alone in first place with an 8-1 league and 10-8 overall record. The Engineers fall to 10-6 and 4-3.

Botiba was 10-12 from the floor.  Skidmore had four players in double figures.  Molly Guile scoring 14 off the bench. Jordyn Wartts and Lindsey Davis had 10 each.

Sarah Wetmore overcame early foul trouble to lead RPI with 17 points. Amanda Lynch had a double/double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Courtney Reynolds added 15, while Ashley Clough scored 10.

Skidmore had another quick start, grabbing an early 12-2 lead. The Thoroughbreds extended the advantage to 14, 25-11 on a Botiba layup with 8:29 to play in the half.  The Engineers mounted a 20-7 run to close the half, down one, 32-31. That was as close as RPI would get.

Up 36-34, Skidmore used a 9-0 run to open a 45-34 lead with 16:17 to play.  The Thoroughbreds led by as many as 15 and went 7-8 from the free throw line in the final :44,  to preserve the 80-66 win.

Both teams are back in league action on Saturday. Skidmore will host Union at 2 p.m. as part of the Big Green Scream, while RPI is home against St. Lawrence at 2 p.m. in a game that can be seen on www.rpitv.org.
