TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Ryan Haggerty has been named the Player of the Week by ECAC Hockey, the league has announced. The junior forward led the Engineers to a pair of wins by scoring five goals in the two contests.

Haggerty (Stamford, CT / U.S. National Development Team) scored five goals on 14 shots and was a plus-2 in the two games, both non-league victories. He had two goals, including the game-winner on the power-play, with six shots and a plus-1 in a 3-1 win at No. 15 Boston University Friday. He came back the next night and recorded his first career hat trick with eight shots and a plus-3 in a 7-1 win over Sacred Heart in the Engineers' home opener.

The nation's leading goal scorer, Haggerty has seven goals in four games. His 1.75 goals per game are also tops in Division I. Two of Haggerty's markers have come on the power play and two have been game-winners. He now has 26 goals and 22 assists for 48 points in 75 games.

Rensselaer, which is 3-1 and ranked 12th in the nation, plays 14th-ranked New Hampshire on Saturday at 7pm in Troy. The Engineers then open league play against Harvard on Black Tuesday (Oct. 29) at 7pm. Both games are at Houston Field House.
