CLINTON, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's cross country team had two student-athletes finish in the top seven and all five were in the top 25 as the Engineers finished second in the 12-team New York State Meet hosted by Hamilton College. The event was an 8k race held at the Hamilton College Golf Course. RPI compiled 69 points, which was second only to St. Lawrence University's 25 points.
Sophomore
Bobby Parker (Johnston, RI / St. Raphael Academy) paced Rensselaer, finishing fourth overall with a time of 26:39.8, which is a 5:22 per mile pace. Junior
Jacob Andrews (New Woodstock, NY / Fabius-Pompey) was second on the team and seventh overall with a time of 26:44.5.
Freshman
Benjamin Fazio (East Greenwich, RI / East Greenwich) was third on the team and 15th overall with a time of 27:18.2). Senior
Aldous Strother (Newbury, MA / The Governor's Academy) and freshman
Daniel Wentworth (Shrewsbury, MA / Shrewsbury) also scored for the Engineers. They ran in 27:37.8 and 27:38.1, respectively.
Sophomore Charles Pfander of Hamilton finished first in the race with a time of 26:13.2.
Rensselaer travels to Bard College for the Liberty League Championship for its next meet, which is Saturday at noon.
