Swimming & Diving Splits With Ithaca College

TROY, N.Y. - Junior Colin Lenhoff was part of three victories to help the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's swimming & diving team post a 160-140 victory over Ithaca College in a dual meet at Robison Pool. The win was the first for the Engineers over the Bombers since 2006. The visitors gained a split as their women's team captured a 183-111 victory.

Lenhoff (Santee, CA / Santana) helped the 200 medley relay team to victory (1:39.51) before winning the 100 backstroke (55.79) and 200 backstroke (2:02.13). Sophomore AJ Schick (Stamford, CT / Stamford) and freshman Matt Schlehr (Maineville, OH / Kings) also had multiple wins. Schick swam on the 200 medley relay as well as touching the wall first in the 50 free (22.31), while Schlehr swam on the 200 medley relay and won the 200 individual medley (2:03.66). 

Other individual winners for the Engineers were freshman Richard Dong (Forest Hills, NY / Hunter College HS), who won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.88) and classmate Mark Stein (Brewster, NY / Brewster), who finished first off the 1-meter diving board (263.95).

For RPI's women, freshman Sarah Schattschneider (Mt. Kisco, NY / Horace Greeley) posted victories in the 100 freestyle (56.18), the 100 butterfly (1:01.97) and as part of the 200 free relay team (1:44.75). Classmate Siena Sara (Queensbury, NY / Queensbury) was part of the victorious relay team and she won the 200 breaststroke (2:30.31). 

Kathleen Bolton (Bedford, NH / Bedford), another freshman, won the 200 individual medley for the Engineers, posting a time of 2:24.09.

Both RPI women's and men's teams will compete in the Wesleyan Invitational next Saturday beginning at 1pm.
