TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) scored nine minutes into the game and controlled play the rest of the game in defeating Keene State College, 4-0, in a non-league men's soccer match at East Campus Stadium. RPI improves to 11-4-2, while the Owls fall to 6-11-0.

Matt Koziol (Poughkeepsie, NY / Franklin D. Roosevelt) doubled the lead in the 27th minute when he collected a
Tyler Kessler (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) pass and scored from 25 yards out for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
RPI held a 12-1 lead in shots in the first 45 minutes, while earning the only three corner kicks of the half.
Sophomore
Matt Carberry (Auburn, NY / Auburn) gave the Engineers a 3-0 advantage when he dribbled the ball briefly before scoring off the crossbar from 25 yards away in the 70th minute. Classmate
Vince Bennett (Madison, NJ / Madison) made it a four-goal game with a goal in the 78th minute that went off the left post and into the net from 18 yards. The goals were the third of the season for both Carberry and Bennett.
Junior
Rob Dewald (Arlington, VA / Washington-Lee) earned his eighth shutout of the season by stopping both shots he faced. He is now 11-3-2. Kessler made four saves in the first half and two in the second to finish the game with six stops. He is now 0-2-0.
The Engineers outshot the Owls, 22-5, and had a 7-1 lead in corner kicks.
RPI's next game will be the Liberty League Semifinals. The opponent, day, time and location are still to be determined. Keene State concludes its regular season on Saturday at the University of Southern Maine in a Little East contest (1pm).
