TROY, NY -- Dartmouth scored one goal in each period, while Lindsay Holdcroft made 33 saves in goal, as the Big Green defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 3-1, in ECAC women's hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Houston Field House. RPI drops to 2-6-1 overall, with a 1-1-0 record in league play, while Dartmouth now stands at 1-4-0, and 1-3-0 in the ECAC.

Dartmouth scored first, as Ali Winkel (Espanola, ON/Toronto Jr. Aeros) took assists from Emma Korbs (Toronto, ON/Toronto Jr. Aeros) and Karlee Odland (Vauxhall, AB/Medicine Hat Hounds) at 10:14 of the first period. It would be the only score of the stanza, as RPI was unable to take advantage of an 8-5 shot lead.

The Engineers were able to tie the game at 1-1 early in the second. Katie Rooney (Buffalo, MN/Buffalo) scored her first goal of the season at 5:51, getting assists from Heidi Huhtamaki (Espoo, Finland/Espoo Blues) and Madison Marzario (Prior Lake, MN/Shattuck-St. Mary's). Rensselaer continued to outshoot the Big Green, but Dartmouth took advantage of a power play opportunity late in the period to regain the one-goal lead. With just 21 seconds to play, Odland slipped the puck past RPI goaltender Kelly O'Brien (Sussex, WI/Madison Captials). Eleni Tebano (Glastonbury, CT/Mid-Fairfield Conn. Stars) and Morgan Illikainen (Grand Rapids, MI/G.R. Greenway Lightning) assisted on the tally.

Rensselaer was not ready to fold, and came out firing in the third and final period. The Engineers put 15 shots on goal in the stanza, but Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, PA/U19 Team Pittsburgh) was there every time, stopping every shot RPI gave her. The Big Green capitalized on their only shot on goal in the period, as Laura Stacey (Kleinburg, ON/Toronto Jr. Aeros) got a breakaway in a shorthanded situation and put the puck in the back of the net. Korbs earned her second assist of the day on the score.

For the game, Rensselaer outshot the Big Green, 34-11, and held a 30-24 advantage in faceoffs. RPI was 0-4 on the power play, while Dartmouth was 1-2 on the extra-man. O'Brien recorded eight saves between the pipes for the Engineers.

Rensselaer will return to action on Friday, Nov. 8, as they visit Cornell in ECAC action at 7 p.m.
