TROY, N.Y. - Caitlyn Drakeley had 18 points and 13 rebounds - both game-highs - and three of her teammates reached double digits in points to lead the Vassar College women's basketball team to an 81-60 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a Liberty League contest at East Campus Arena. With the win, the Brewers improve to 7-1 in the league and move into first place. They are 14-3 overall. RPI falls to 2-6 and 4-13.

With the score tied at 15-15 with 12:22 left in the first half, Vassar scored 29 of the final 37 points in the frame to take a commanding 44-23 lead into the lockerroom at the break. The Brewers led by at least 20 points for much of the second half on their way to winning their fifth straight game and eighth of their last nine contests. RPI pulled to within 16 points, 74-58, on a pair of free throws from sophomore Ashley Clough (West Chesterfield, NH / Keene) with just over two minutes remaining, but could pull no closer.

A sophomore guard, Drakeley (Woodbury, CT / Nonnewaug) connected on 5 of 10 field goals, including two from three-point range, and 6 of 8 from the foul line to lead all scorers. She added six offensive rebounds and seven defensive, along with four assists and three steals. Senior Cydni Matsuoka (Sacramento, CA / John F. Kennedy) and junior Alllyson Pemberton (Weston, MA / Weston) both had 17 points. Matsuoka, a guard, also had seven rebounds and three assists, while Pemberton had six boards. Senior Hannah Senftleber (Burlington, VT / Burlington) chipped in with 11 points for Vassar, who have now 

RPI put three student-athletes in double figures in points, paced by junior Amanda Lynch (Middleton, NY / John S. Burke), who had 16 points and a team-best seven rebounds. She also had three blocked shots. Clough added 14 points with five rebounds, while Courtney Reynolds (San Diego, CA / Rancho Bernardo) had 13 points with three steals.

The Engineers are back home on Friday when Union College comes to Troy for a 6pm tipoff. Vassar, which is tied with William Smith College for first, travels Bard College next Tuesday at 6pm for a league game.
