Box Score CANTON, N.Y. - Senior captain Mark Provost snuck a shot under the crossbar and behind RPI goalkeeper Rob Dewald in the 66thminute to lift the No. 11 Saints to a 1-0 win over No. 20 RPI en route to their second consecutive Liberty League Championship. With the win St. Lawrence improves to 16-2-1 overall, while RPI falls to 12-4-3. The Engineers will have to wait for the NCAA's men's soccer selection show on Monday afternoon to see whether or not their season will continue.

The Saints did indeed get off to a quick start, forcing Dewald to make his first save of the day on a shot byJeremiah Bunton just 13 seconds into the contest. The team was able to settle in to their possession style early, while keeping pressure on the Engineers defense; earning five of their eight corner kick opportunities in the first 25 minutes of play.

Despite outshooting Rensselaer 8-2 in the first half, the teams were scoreless at the break. It was RPI that came out firing in the second half, but the Saints were able to weather the storm and sophomore goalkeeper Sean Houston made a diving point-blank save on RPI's Nathanial Gunderson in the 49th minute to keep things scoreless.

But in the 66th minute, it was Provost teaming with classmate Austin Roney to get the Saints on the board.

The play started with a run up the left sideline by Roney, an outside back for the Saints, who carried the ball deep into the RPI defensive third before cutting into the box and dropping a pass to Provost  20 yards from goal. Provost settled the ball and hit a perfect strike into the middle of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

The Toronto, Ont. native was named the tournament's most valuable player after assisting on Rob Brandell's game-winning goal in Wednesday's double-overtime semifinal win over Hobart and tallying the lone goal in the championship match.

With the win St. Lawrence improves to 16-2-1 overall, while RPI falls to 12-4-3. The Engineers will have to wait for the NCAA's men's soccer selection show on Monday afternoon to see whether or not their season will continue.

The Saints finished with a 18-6 edge in shots and 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Dewald made eight saves for the Engineers, while Houston finished with four stops for St. Lawrence.
