Engineers face Cortland at East Campus Stadium (1pm)

HOMESTAND CONTINUES: The Engineers play the third game of their four-game homestand on Saturday, when they host Cortland at East Campus Stadium (1pm).

RENSSELAER TIES ONEONTA: Junior Coley Mowder netted her first goal of the year to earn Rensselaer a 1-1 draw with SUNY Oneonta, this evening in non-league play at East Campus Stadium ... Mowder buried a header in the 68th minute, directly from a well-placed corner kick by Shelby Stromerson ... Oneonta took an early lead in the game, thanks to Caitlyn LaPier's first goal of the season ... Laura Rolston saw her try from distance carom off the underside of the crossbar and into the path of the onrushing LaPier, who carried the ball into the net with her body ... Taylor Korytko recorded two of her game-high six shots in the 36th minute, but her header and follow up shot were kept out by Rori Stark ... Tori Riopelle finished with four saves, while Stark (1-2-1) had three stops, which all came in the opening 45 minutes.

RENSSELAER LEADERS: Senior captain Taylor Korytko has a team-best two goals for four points ... Junior Coley Mowder (1 goal), sophomore Cori Winslow (1 goal) and freshman Hannah Bordogna (1 goal) have two points each ... Korytko has notched a team-high 22 shot attempts, including 11 on goal ... Junior centerback Shelby Stromerson has logged a outfield player-best 575 minutes a starter in all six contests.

IN GOAL: Freshman Tori Riopelle (2-3-1) has started all six games in goal for the Engineers and carries a 0.94 goals against average and an .838 save percentage ... She has seen 63 shots, including 37 on-goal and has earned one shutout.

RPI AT HOME: The Engineers are 16-11-2 at East Campus Stadium over the last three seasons, including a 6-2-0 mark last year ... RPI has had at least five home victories in four of the last five campaigns.

FIRST POINTS: Freshman Dali Alarian earned her first collegiate point on Sunday, when she assisted on RPI's only goal of the game ... Classmate Jessica Dabney picked up her first point when she assisted on the game-winning goal at Castleton on Saturday.

CORTLAND BLANKED BY #4 ITHACA: Sophomore Jess Demczar tallied the game's lone goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation to lift fourth-ranked Ithaca to a 1-0 victory over Cortland in the consolation game of the Upstate Collegiate Cup on Sunday ... Sophomore goalie Tyler Julian made her first career start for Cortland and turned aside six shots ... Junior goalie Beth Coppolecchia made one save for Ithaca ... Demczar scored the game winner in the 81st minute ... After a Cortland foul seven yards outside of the box, Demczar placed a 25-yard free kick into the upper left corner for her second goal of the season ... The Red Dragons pressed for the game-tying goal but could not get a shot on Coppolecchia the remainder of the game.

LEADING THE RED DRAGONS: Four players have scored a goal for Cortland, including seniors Izzy Ward and Amanda Margolis, junior Danielle Tyrell and sophomore Mersadiz Hayes ... In goal, sophomore Rachel Axt (1-3) has started four of the team's five games, carrying a 2.10 goals against average and a .733 save percentage.

LAST MEETING: Cori Winslow scored the game-tying goal with 14 minutes, 23 seconds remaining in the second half to give the 18th-ranked Engineers a 1-1 tie at Cortland on September 21, 2013 ... Caitlin Guerra scored the Red Dragons' goal early in the first half with Amanda Margolis recording an assist ... Rachel Axt registered two saves for the hosts ... Taylor Korytko collected the assist on Winslow's goal ... Alex Scholz started for the Engineers and did not make a save in 61:18 ... Steph Vargas also did not stop a shot over the final 48:42 ... After a scoreless first half, Guerra gave Cortland the lead in the 51st minute when she one-timed a 25-yard shot that deflected off Scholz's hands and into the goal ... Winslow tied the game in the 76th minute, depositing a shot into the upper right corner from the left side.

VS. THE SUNYAC: Since 2010, the Engineers are 1-2-3 against SUNYAC schools, including a 1-0-2 mark in their last three ... The lone victory in that stretch came against New Paltz (2-0) last season at East Campus Stadium.

NATIONALLY RANKED: Two Liberty League schools are currently ranked in the national top 25, acording to the latest NSCAA coaches poll ... Union is 12th in the poll, while William Smith is 23rd.

THE CAPTAINS: Seniors Taylor Korytko, Dana Sailor and Kerry White will lead the Engineers on the field for the 2014 season ... This is the second season wearing a captain's armband for Korytko.

BY POSITION: The Engineers roster consists of two goaltenders, nine defenders, five midfielders, 10 forwards and two players who play multiple positions.

BY CLASS: The team is made up of 10 freshmen, four sophomores, six juniors, seven seniors and a graduate student.

RENSSELAER'S COACHES: The Engineers are led by first-year head coach Greg Cathell ... He is a 2006 graduate of Maryland Eastern Shore ... Cathell is assisted by Rebecca Lee and Erika Van Zandt.

UPCOMING ACTION: Rensselaer is back on the field on Saturday, when it hosts Cortland at East Campus Stadium (1pm).
