THE LINEUP
RPI will be without sophomore
Jake Wood, who was suspended by ECAC Hockey for a hit late in an 8-3 loss to Union in the Mayor's Cup game at the Times Union Center in Albany on Saturday. The Engineers may see the return of junior forward
Mark Miller, who has been sidelined due to injury since the end of December. Miller has missed each of the last eight contests.
MAN-GAMES LOST
Rensselaer has had 14 student-athletes miss games due to injury or illness, missing 55 games in total. By position, forwards have missed 37 games, defensemen have missed 13 and goaltenders have missed five contests.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP
The Engineers are 3-4-0 in January and four of the top five scorers in the month are seniors.
Jacob Laliberte has two goals and seven assists in seven games, while
Matt Neal has four goals and three assists in five contests. Defenseman
Curtis Leonard has four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in five games while fellow blueliner
Luke Curadi has four assists in five games played.
RPI'S TOP SCORERS
Senior
Jacob Laliberte holds the top spot among RPI scorers with 15 points, on four goals and a team-best 11 assists. Classmate
Matt Neal is second in points with 14 points, handing out 10 helpers with four goals. Freshman
Drew Melanson has 13 points after a pair of tallies on Saturday. He leads all players with six goals.
LAST WEEKEND
Rensselaer was off from ECAC Hockey action, but took on Route 7 foe Union in the third annual Mayor's Cup at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. on Saturday. RPI held a 3-2 lead after two periods, but the Dutchmen scored six times in the final frame for a come-from-behind win, 8-3, in front of 8,714 fans. Freshman
Drew Melanson scored twice for the Engineers, while senior
Matt Neal added a goal.
Jason Kasdorf recorded 22 saves for RPI, which managed a season-low 13 shots in the contest. Union was led by Daniel Ciampini, who had three goals and three assists.
