Sign up for Text Message AlertsTROY, N.Y. -- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Hamilton College in a dual meet at Robison Pool on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. The teams will compete in 14 events, with two breaks to allow for 1 and 3-meter diving competitions. This is the final home meet for the Engineers for 2014-15.
The Engineer women are coming off a 119-83 win against Capital Region foe Skidmore last weekend. Freshman
Erin Kane had multiple wins for RPI, taking the 200 free in a time of 2:02.51 and the 100 fly in 1:05.07. The women's 200 medley team also won with a time of 1:58.15. Freshman
Michaela Yamashita, who later won the 50 free, was a part of that winning relay team.
Shanny Lin, who was the Liberty League Rookie of the Week two weeks ago, was victorious in the 1000 free (11:21.53).
Jessica Sauve and twin sister,
Danielle Sauve posted individual wins in the 400 IM and 100 breaststroke, respectively, while
Maddie Miller took the top spot off the 1 meter diving board.
RPI's men's squad was also victorious against the Thoroughbreds a week ago by a score of 117-76. The Engineers were led by sophomore
Richard Dong, who posted individual wins in the 100 fly and 100 breast. Diver
Miguel Hummel won the 3-meter diving competition, while other individual winners were
Brandon Koo in the 200 free,
Spencer Marquardt in the 50 free, and
Mike Rizzo in the 400 IM.
Rensselaer will wrap up the season on Feb. 18-21, at the New York State Championships, hosted by Nazareth College in Webster, N.Y.
