TROY, N.Y. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Nealon made five saves and the seventh-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team held on for a 0-0 draw with Hobart College in Liberty League play on Friday. With the tie, the Engineers move to 8-0-2 (1-0-1 LL) and set a school record for longest unbeaten streak, while the Statesmen are now 6-1-2 (0-0-2 LL).
Hobart's best first half chance came in the 28th minute, when a corner was steered on goal by freshman Derrick Acheampong (Needham, MA/Noble and Greenough). RPI senior captain
Paul Lentine (Penfield, NY/Penfield) was waiting inside the left post and headed the attempt off the line.
Following an in-swinging corner by junior
Devon Baughen (Sarasota, FL/Pine View) near found its way inside the right post. Senior captain
Matt Carberry (Auburn, NY/Auburn) had a first half opportunity skip wide of the right post.
In the second half, the Statesmen turned in a couple scoring chances, including a deflected shot in the 75th minute that Nealon (Somers, NY/Somers) was able to drive to stop, before pouncing on the rebound.

Andrew Zendan (Charlotte, NC/Providence) saw his try from just outside the 18 miss by inches over the crossbar in the 67th minute.
The game remained scoreless after 90 minutes, forcing overtime. In the first extra session, Hobart applied pressure, out-shooting the Engineers 4-0, but Nealon was able to keep out the two attempts that found the target.
The Engineers were able to muster a pair of shots in the second OT, but were unable to break the deadlock.
Hobart finished with a 14-9 edge in shots, including 5-3 on goal. Rensselaer won the corner kick battle, 7-5, while Statesmen goalkeeper Tyler Serafine (Canandaigua, NY/Canadaigua) was issued the only caution of the game.
