NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Celia D'Agostino and Mekayla Wakeman scored goals under four minutes apart and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) came-from-behind to defeat SUNY New Paltz 2-1 for its third consecutive victory. The Engineers trailed at halftime, but battled back to improve to 9-5. The Hawks fall to 12-4.

During the 61st minute, D'Agostino, a senior, scored off a feed from classmate Hana Murphy off a penalty corner. Just 4:14 later, RPI received the go-ahead goal from Wakeman, a sophomore who scored from the top of the circle off a penalty-corner insertion by freshman midfielder Casey Collette. Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Kaufman and RPI's defense kept New Paltz at bay the rest of the contest for the victory.

Kaufman, turned aside five shots in the victory for RPI, which received defensive saves from sophomore midfielder Kate Batzinger and sophomore back Mac Reininger.

Senior midfielder Dani Ackerman scored the homestanding Hawks' lone goal and became the program's leader in career points with 96. After the Engineers were unable to cash in on their offensive opportunities in the first half, New Paltz got on the board first, as Ackerman blasted a penalty corner feed from junior forward Kayla McKeveny into the back of the cage in the 30th minute. That stood as the halftime margin despite RPI holding a 9-5 advantage in shots in the first half.

Senior goalkeeper Alayna Wageman stood tall in the loss, making 13 saves for the Hawks, who entertain Kean University on Tuesday in its home finale at 4pm.

RPI controlled the tempo for most of the game, finishing with a 25-12 edge in shots and a 15-7 cushion in penalty corners. The Engineers return to the field on Saturday when they play at league foe Vassar College at 3pm.
