@RPIAthleticsTROY, N.Y. – Behind 10 student-athletes recording multiple victories, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's swimming & diving teams pulled off a rare sweep of Ithaca College, winning 212-83 and 161-39, respectively. Both teams improve to 2-0 this season.
The men earned their 129-point victory with the help of five multiple event winners. Richard Dong won three individual races and a relay, Mavin Liu and Noah Pan won two races and a relay and Dan Hendricks and Alex Chused both won two events.
Dong, a junior, was victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:00.98), 100 breaststroke (58.63) and 200 breaststroke (2:13.05), while also teaming with Pan and Liu to win the 400 medley relay (3:34.08).
Pan, a freshman, was first to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke (53.91) and 200 backstroke (1:59.07). Liu, also a freshman, won the 200 fly (1:59.63) and 100 fly (53.28).
Sophomore
Shanny Lin was one of five women who posted multiple victories. She won individual races in the 100 fly (59.06), 200 fly (2:09.39) and 200 IM (2:14.68). She was also part of the victorious 400 medley relay team victory, joining
Amanda Wang,
Siena Sara and
Jessica Sauve (4:03.82).
Wang, a freshman, also won the 100 backstroke (1:00.14) and 200 backstroke (2:10.64), while Sara won the 100 (1:09.05) and 200 breaststroke (2:28.69).
