#RPIMS Hosts Union on Wednesday

Engineers take on area-rivals in mid-week battle at ECAV (7:30pm)

MID-WEEK LEAGUE MATCH: The Engineers continue their season-long four-game homestand on Wednesday night, when they host area-rival Union at East Campus Stadium for a 7:30pm kick-off.

RECORD UNBEATEN STREAK SNAPPED: After going a school-record 10 straight games (8-0-2) without a defeat, RPI was beaten by RIT on Saturday, 1-0, in overtime ... The schools previous long for more consecutive games without a loss came in 2009, when the squad opend with an 8-0-1 mark.

ENGINEERS TRIPPED UP BY TIGERS: Rensselaer lost to RIT in the 96th minute for their first defeat of the season on Saturday ... The Tigers scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick by freshman Gene Sicoli in the 96th minute ... The visitors were awarded the PK when senior Luke Dorsey collected a pass, turned and flicked the ball past a defender, who tripped Dorsey in the box ... Sicoli took the shot and scored his seventh goal of the season when he sent a low ball into the bottom right corner of the net, while goaltender Ryan Nealon dove in the opposite direction.

NATIONALLY RANKED: The Engineers are eighth in the most recent NSCAA coaches poll and first in the East Region ... RPI is 16th in the D3soccer.com poll.

RENSSELAER LEADERS: Junior Devon Baughen (5 goals, 4 assists) leads the Engineers with 14 points ... He is followed by senior captain Matt Carberry (3 goals, 3 assist) with nine points ... Fellow skippers and seniors Paul Lentine (3 goals, 2 assists) and Nathaniel Gunderson (3 goals, 2 assists) have eight points apiece ... Junior center back Andrew Gondek is average a team-best 94.0 minutes per contest.

IN GOAL: Sophomore Ryan Nealon has started all 11 games between the sticks and is 8-1-2 with a 0.35 goals against average and a .902 save percentage ... He has allowed just four goals – two on penalty kicks – and made 37 saves, including two penalty stops.

FOR THE DUTCHMEN: Senior Carl Faber has a team-best eight goals for 16 points ... Sophomore Ethan Strauss (5 goals, 1 assist) has 11 points, while junior captain Andrew Fontaine (2 goals, 6 assists) rounds out the top three scorers with 10 ... Sophomore keeper John Weitzman (3-1-2) has played in six games (5 starts), carrying a 0.47 goals against average and an .885 save percentage.

OCTOBER 8, 2014: The Engineers scored in just the third minute and held on for a 1-0 victory at Union College in the teams' previous meeting ... Matt Carberry scored off of a delivery by Paul Lentine for the game's only tally ... Alex Kessler made nine saves for the shutout.
