Women's Hockey Falls at Dartmouth

Big Green blanks Engineers, 4-0

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's hockey shut out Rensselaer, 4-0, at Thompson Arena on Friday night. The Big Green improved to 3-2-2 and 3-1-2 in ECAC Hockey play, while the Engineers fell to 4-6-1 and 2-2-1 in conference action.

Senior Lindsey Allen, junior Kennedy Ottenbreit and sophomore Hailey Noronha all ended the night with two points apiece, while four other Dartmouth players picked up one point. Ottenbreit also scored Dartmouth's first short handed tally of the season.

At 5:20 in the first period, sophomore Brooke Ahbe had a great chance to put the home team on the board, shooting to the right of netminder Lovisa Selander and pulling her from her post. The Engineers were able to clear it before a Big Green player could get their stick on it.

Tebano took a shot from the top of the circle that ricocheted off an Engineers' skate to Allen, who backhanded it into the net at 17:05, to make it a 1-0 game heading into the second period.

At 12:59 in the second period, just 13 seconds, Ottenbreit netted Dartmouth's first short handed tally of the season..

Junior goaltender Robyn Chemago had a huge save at 16:15 that helped keep RPI off the board.

Forfar gave the Green a 3-0 edge at 5:19 in the third period, picking up Allen's deflected shot and flicking it to the right of Selander before she had time to cover the right post. Senior Laura Stacey also assisted on the play. Ahbe added one more goal for good measure at 13:53, shooting to Kira Bombay's right, who replaced Selander between the pipes.

Dartmouth outshot RPI, 39-21, and went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Engineers were 0-for-5. In net, Chemago had 21 saves to earn the win. Selander made 30 stops while being saddled with the loss.
