Engineers take on 10th-ranked Clarkson and eighth-ranked SLU on Friday and Saturday

ENGINEERS SWEPT OUT WEST: The Engineers dropped a pair of ECAC Hockey contests last weekend, falling at Colgate, 4-2, before losing to 10th-ranked Cornell, 7-1 ... The Raiders scored the first two goals at 4:46 and 17:17 of the first period to take a 2-0 lead after one period ... RPI junior Jenn Godin struck back at 8:58 of the second, sticking home her third goal of the season ... The lone assist went to classmate Mari Mankey ... Colgate tacked on two late-period tallies to take a 4-1 advantage into the second intermission ... Junior Alexa Gruschow buried her team-leading ninth goal of the campaign at 17:41 of the third to cap the scoring ... Freshman Shayna Tomlinson had the assist ... Senior goaltender Kelly O'Brien registered a career-high 46 saves in defeat ... The Big Red scored the first three goals – all in the first period to jump out to an early lead against the Engineers ... Senior captain Ali Svoboda scored her seventh of the season at 1:42 of the second, to get RPI on the board ... Helpers went to classmate and fellow captain Taylor Mahoney and Gruschow.

RENSSELAER LEADERS: Junior Alexa Gruschow (9 goals, 9 assists) leads RPI with 18 points ... Senior captain Ali Svoboda (7 goals, 7 assists) and sophomore Laura Horwood (7 goals, 7 assists) are tied for second with 14 points apiece ... Freshman Shayna Tomlinson (4 goals, 9 assists) and senior captain Taylor Mahoney (3 goals, 10 assists) have 13 points each.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Senior Brianna Piper (1-5-3) has a 3.31 goals against average and an .885 save percentage in nine starts, while classmate Kelly O'Brien (4-14-1) has a 3.08 goals against average and a .906 save percentage in 19 starts.

ON THE DRAW: Freshman Shayna Tomlinson has won a team-best 64.0% of the face-offs she's taken (187 to 105) ... Junior Alexa Gruschow is second at 55.2%.

BLACK AND BLUE: Senior defenseman Kathryn Schilter has blocked a team-high 55 shots ... Freshman Amanda Kimmerle is second with 34, while junior Jenn Godin has 27.

ECAC HOCKEY LEADERS: Freshman Shayna Tomlinson is second in ECAC Hockey in face-off percentage (64.0%), while senior Kathryn Schilter is second in blocked shots (55) and fourth in blocked shots per game (2.04) ... Sophomore Hannah Behounek has been assessed a league-high 19 penalties for 38 minutes.

PACING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS: Sophomore Cayley Mercer (16 goals, 16 assists) and junior Shannon MacAulay (16 goals, 15 assists) are first and second on the team with 32 and 31 points, respectively ... Sophomore Genevieve Bannon (11 goals, 16 assists) is third with 27 points, while junior Olivia Howe (10 goals, 11 assists) has 21 ... In goal, freshman Shea Tiley (17-8-3) has started 27 of the team's 28 games, carrying 1.48 goals against average and a .935 save percentage.

ST. LAWRENCE LEADERS: Sophomore Brooke Webster (14 goals, 12 assists) and senior Kayla Raniwsky (10 goals, 16 assists) are tied for the club lead with 26 points apiece ... Junior Jenna Marks (12 goals, 13 assists) is third with 25 points, while freshman Kennedy Marchment (11 goals, 12 assists) has 23 ... In the crease, senior Carmen MacDonald (11-6-2) has a 2.16 goals against average and a .922 save percentage as the starter in 18 of 28 games year ... Freshman Brooke Wolejko (5-2-1) has started nine games and carries a 2.55 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS: Five ECAC Hockey schools are ranked in the top 10 nationally, including fourth-ranked Harvard, fifth-ranked Quinnipiac, eighth-ranked St. Lawrence, ninth-ranked Cornell and 10th-ranked Clarkson.

THE CAPTAINS: Seniors Taylor Mahoney and Ali Svoboda join assistant captain junior Mari Mankey as RPI's captains for the 2014-15 season ... All three are in their first season wearing the "C" or the "A" for the Engineers.
