TROY, N.Y. -- Four players scored multiple goals for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), while the Engineers held Hamilton to just one goal in the second half to come back for a 10-8 win over the Continentals in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening at East Campus Stadium. With the win, RPI improves to 9-5 overalll, while Hamilton drops to 8-7.

Rensselaer got on the board first, as Patrick Finn (North Easton, MA / Thayer Academy) took an assist from Scott Crow (Darnestown, MD / Bullis School) at 13:18. Hamilton scored the next six goals, starting in the first quarter and extending into the second. Jack Gaul (Glen Rock, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) tied the game at 1-1 before Brian Bauersfeld (Scarsdale, NY / Scarsdale) gave the Continentals their first lead. Connor Morgan scored consecutive tallies to give Hamilton a 4-1 lead after the first quarter of play, getting helpers from John Zimmerman (Syracuse, NY / Westhill) and Pat Donahoe (Mahopac, NY / Mahopac).

Sam Sweet (Duxbury, MA / Duxbury) continued the streak in the second quarter, putting up an unassisted goal in the first minute of play, before Zimmerman got into the scoring column just under a minute later. Pat Hogan (Mt. Sinai, NY / Mt. Sinai) ended the Hamilton run for Rensselaer at 12:43, but Donahoe scored an unassisted goal at 8:40 to put the Continentals ahead, 8-7. However, the Engineers would score three more times to end the half to pull within 5-7 at the break. Jake Weidner (Chula Vista, CA / Otay Ranch) and Breanainn McNeally (Severna Park, MD / Archbishop Spaulding) scored back-to-back man-up goals within 30 seconds of one another, while Hogan got an unassisted tally in the final minute of play for the Engineers.

All three goals of the third quarter came from RPI. McNeally got his second assist from Casey Colligan (Baldwinsville, NY / CW Baker) just eight seconds in on a man-up, and then returned the favor on Colligan's goal 40 seconds later, which tied the game at 7-7. Weidner scored his second of the day with 8:35 left to play to put the Engineers back on top.

Matt Hall (Sudbury, MA / Lincoln-Sudbury) scored twice in the fourth for Rensselaer, getting his first unassisted tally at 13:07, and then scoring again without help at 2:19. Zimmerman ended the drought for Hamilton with just 1:48 left to play to wrap up the scoring.

RPI outshot the Continentals, 42-35 in the game, and held a 29-26 advantage in groundball pickups. Hamilton controlled the faceoffs, winning 15-of-20 in the game, but went 0-for-2 on extra man opportunities, while the Engineers were 3-for-5 with the man advantage. Goalkeeper David Gibbs (Stony Brook, NY / Ward Melville) finished with 13 saves for RPI in the win, while Will Driscoll (Riverside, CT / Brunswick School) recorded 17 stops for Hamilton.

Rensselaer will return to action on Saturday, hosting Bard in the regular season finale, starting at 1 p.m.
