Field Hockey Defeats Keuka

Engineers set single-game scoring record against first-year Wolfpack

TROY, N.Y. – Nine different student-athletes found the scoresheet for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) field hockey team, which defeated Keuka College, 14-0, at Harkness Field. With the win, the Engineers improve to 5-2, while the Wolkpack drops to 1-5.

RPI scored on its first three shots of the game to open up a 3-0 lead, just 5:12 into the contest. Sophomore Megan Jones (Stevenville, MD/Kent Island) then tallied and set up classmate Nicole Clancy (Braintree, MA/Braintree) for a 5-0 advantage.

Senior captain Angela Cascio (Wyndmoor, PA/Springfield School) and sophomore Jena Nawfel (Waterville, ME/Waterville) found the back of the cage, before a penalty stroke from junior Colleen Morris (Pound Ridge, NY/King Low Heywood Thomas) made it 8-0.

Cascio netted her second of the game at 30:20 prior to the first collegiate goal by freshman Cristina Tellez (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), which gave the hosts a 10-0 lead at halftime.
The Engineers put four more home in the second half to cap the scoring. RPI out-shot the Wolfpack 47-3 and drew 15 corners to Keuka's one.

Freshman Elizabeth Sherman (Auburn, NY/Auburn) made 22 saves for the Wolfpack.
