TROY, N.Y. – Four third period goals, including three in a two minute span sent the University of Montreal women's hockey team home with a 4-1 exhibition victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Saturday at the Houston Field House.

Trailing by a goal in the third period, the Carabins netted three goals in two minutes, to open up a 3-1 advantage. Alexandra Labelle knotted the game at 1-1 when she tallied at 12:31 of the frame. Just 20 seconds later, Catherine Dubois gave the visitors the lead for good, with assists to Labelle and Kim Poirier.

Jessica Cormier doubled the Montreal lead at 14:31, before an empty net goal by Dupuis capped the scoring at 19:29.

The Engineers opened the scoring at 42 seconds of the second period. Senior Alexa Gruschow (Mechanicburgh, PA/Washington Pride) stole the puck in the offensive zone and stuck it past Montreal goaltender Elodie Rousseau-Sirois. The tally was unassisted.

Senior netminder Sara Till (Jericho, VT/Rice Academy) started in net and stopped all 11 shots she faced in the opening 20 minutes. Freshman Lovisa Selander (Sollentuna, Sweden/SDE Riksserien) got the second period and turned away 10 of 10 shots, before classmate Kira Bombay made 13 saves in the third.

Montreal finished with a narrow 38-36 edge in shots. Neither team was able to convert on the power play. RPI was 0 for 1, while the Carabins were 0 for 2.
