#RPIWS Tops Rutgers-Camden Late

Engineers get 81st minute tally from Ali Zumpetta for first win

CAMDEN, N.J. – Junior Ali Zumpetta scored the game's only goal in the 81st minute, to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Rutgers University-Camden, this evening in a non-league match. With the win, the Engineers improve to 1-0-1, while the Scarlet Raptors drop to 0-1.

Sophomore Jessica Dabney (Austin, TX/James Bowie) picked up the assist on Zumpetta's (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) first goal of the year.

The Engineers out-shot the Scarlet Raptors, 15-12, including 10-6 in the second half.

HOW THEY HAPPENED:
Goal No. 1: Jessica Dabney created the eventual game-winning goal with a driving run down the left wing. After beating her defender, she slotted a low cross towards the middle of the box for Zumpetta, who tapped it past the Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper.

CLEAN SHEET:
Sophomore goalkeeper Tori Riopelle recorded her first shutout of the season and seventh of her collegiate career.

CORNER BATTLE:
The Engineers earned four corner kicks, while not allowing one at the other end of the field.

BOOKED:
RPI junior Cori Winslow was issued the only yellow card of the game, which came in the 83rd minute.

FIRST ASSIST: The assist for Jessica Dabney was her first of the season. She had one assist in 14 games last year.

ATTACKING BACK: Freshman Maddie Steinmetz was second on the team with three shots. All of them were on goal.
