CAMDEN, N.J. – Junior
Ali Zumpetta scored the game's only goal in the 81st minute, to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Rutgers University-Camden, this evening in a non-league match. With the win, the Engineers improve to 1-0-1, while the Scarlet Raptors drop to 0-1.
Sophomore
Jessica Dabney (Austin, TX/James Bowie) picked up the assist on Zumpetta's (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) first goal of the year.
The Engineers out-shot the Scarlet Raptors, 15-12, including 10-6 in the second half.
HOW THEY HAPPENED:
Goal No. 1:
Jessica Dabney created the eventual game-winning goal with a driving run down the left wing. After beating her defender, she slotted a low cross towards the middle of the box for Zumpetta, who tapped it past the Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper.
CLEAN SHEET:
Sophomore goalkeeper
Tori Riopelle recorded her first shutout of the season and seventh of her collegiate career.
CORNER BATTLE:
The Engineers earned four corner kicks, while not allowing one at the other end of the field.
BOOKED:
RPI junior
Cori Winslow was issued the only yellow card of the game, which came in the 83rd minute.
FIRST ASSIST: The assist for
Jessica Dabney was her first of the season. She had one assist in 14 games last year.
ATTACKING BACK: Freshman
Maddie Steinmetz was second on the team with three shots. All of them were on goal.

The Engineers travel to Farmingdale, N.Y. for the Farmingdale State Tournament, this weekend. They open against Western Connecticut State on Saturday (1:30pm).
Rutgers-Camden visits Cabrini on Friday (7pm).
