ITHACA, N.Y. - For the 11th consecutive dual meet, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men's swimming & diving team posted a victory, defeating Ithaca College, 201-93. It is RPI's second straight win over the Bombers. The Engineers women's team saw its dual meet winning streak snapped at 13 straight meets dating back to the 2014-15 season with a 180-120 loss to Ithaca.
Sophomore Noah Pan won four events, including two individual races, while John Alberta, Mavin Liu and Richard Dong won three times.Â
Pan, Dong, Liu and Alberta started the afternoon by combining to win the 200 medley relay in 1:37.44. Pan went on to capture the 100 backstroke (52.58) and 200 back (1:57.06) before swimming with Alberta, Brandon Koo and Andrew Klobucher on the victorious 400 free relay team (3:12.73) to finish the day.
Alberta's individual victory came in the 100 free (47.68), while Liu won in the 200 fly (1:59.27) and 100 butterfly (54.45). Dong was first in the 100 breaststroke (58.81) and 200 individual medley (2:00.60).Â
Other multiple winners for the Engineers were Dan Hendricks in the 1000 (10:15.91) and 500 (4:57.51) freestyle events and Alex Chused off the 3-meter (252.95) and 1-meter (234.00) diving boards.Â
The women's team was led by junior
Shanny Lin, who won three events, including the 200 butterfly in an NCAA B-cut time of 2:05.97. She won that race by 15 seconds. Lin also won 100 fly (58.65) and the 200 IM (2:12.83).Â
Classmate
Danielle Sauve also posted a pair of wins, taking the first individual event of the day, the 1000 freestyle in 11:07.96. She later won the 500 free in a time of 2:25.32.
