VETERANS: Rensselaer returns 11 student-athletes from last year's team, including senior
Lauren Young ... Senior
Jackie Sortor, who missed all of 2015-16 due to injury, also returns to squad ... The others who are back include four juniors and six sophomores.
NEWCOMERS: The Engineers have two freshmen on this year's team in forward
Celia Tomlinson and guard
Ines Ortea.
GLOBAL REACH: Rensselaer has seven different states and two countries represented on its roster.
TUESDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: RPI plays at home for four consecutive Tuesday nights (Nov. 15, Nov. 22, Nov. 29 & Dec. 1).
2015-16: RPI finished last season with an 8-17 overall record and a 4-12 mark in the Liberty League ... The Engineers were 5-5 at East Campus Arena and 2-1 on neutral courts.
ALL-ROOKIE TEAM: Rensselaer's
Sam Krumbhaar was unanimously named to the Liberty League All-Rookie Team ... In 22 games, Krumbhaar, a guard, averaged 13.8 points, which led the team ... She was also first in field goals (106), field goal attempts (310), free throws (74), free throw attempts (91), steals (37) and points (304) ... She also averaged 3.6 rebounds and 24.2 minutes, while recording 30 assists and a blocked shot ... She was third in the Liberty League in free throw percentage (.813) and ninth in scoring average and steals per game (1.7).
ALL-ACADEMIC: The 2015-16 Liberty League Winter All-Academic Team included four from RPI women's basketball ... They were
Ashley Clough (biomedical engineering),
Claudia Stirpe (mechanical engineering),
Bailei Tetrault (civil engineering) and
Lauren Young (bioinformatics and molecular biology) ... Honored student-athletes must have had at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20.
WEEKLY AWARDS: RPI had two student-athletes earn four weekly Liberty League honors a season ago ...
Sam Krumbhaar was the Rookie of the Week three times, while
Elizabeth Eckhardt earned the same award once.
SVC IN 2015-16: Southern Vermont went 11-15 a season ago, including 8-10 in the NECC ... The Mountaineers were 4-10 on the road.
