NORFOLK, Va. - Nick Bay allowed just one earned run over 7.2 innings to lead the Virginia Wesleyan College baseball team to an 8-4 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Saturday morning. With the win, the Marlins improve to 3-1, while the Engineers drop to 1-3.
Bay (2-0) gave up four runs (1 earne) on nine hits, with four strikeouts and two walks. His counterpart, RPI senior 
Greg Echeverria, completed 7.0 innings, while allowing five runs (4 earned) on eight hits. He struck out five and walked two. 
RPI struck first in the 2nd inning, taking advantage of a Marlins error to plate the game's first two runs. Junior 
Matt Lawrence added an RBI-single for a 3-0 lead.
Wesleyan came right back with a two-run bottom half of the inning, before pulling even on a run-scoring single by Taylor Erby in the 3rd. 
The Marlins took the lead for good in the 5th, when Erby came around to score on a throwing error. Deon Hammond extended the lead to 5-3 on a fielder's choice in the 7th.

Sam Lawrence to draw RPI within 5-4 in the 8th, but Virginia Wesleyan answered with three-run bottom half to the put the game away.
Matt Lawrence finished 2 for 5 with an RBI, while 
Yahriel Jimenez went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
The Engineers are back in action at 3pm, when they take on Oswego State. Wesleyan faces the Lakers at noon.
