Men's Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight

TROY, N.Y. - Junior Breanainn McNeally scored five goals with two assists to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse team to its fifth straight victory, 17-5, over Vassar College in a Liberty League contest at East Campus Stadium. 

RECORDS
  • Rensselaer: 6-2; 2-1 Liberty League ... RPI sits in second place in the eight-team conference, behind only No. 2 RIT (3-0; 10-0).
  • Vassar: 4-4; 1-1 Liberty League ... The Brewers are in a four-way tie for third place.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Rensselaer scored the first five goals of the game with four coming in the first quarter ... The Engineers held a 2-0 lead before the Brewers attempted their first shot.
  • Senior midfielder Chaz Bell opened the scoring with his first goal of the season.
  • McNeally assisted on the first two goals and then scored the next two ... He now has 30 goals and six assists in eight games ... McNeally is first on the team in goals and points.
  • After Jake Weidner scored unassisted, Vassar scored three straight times to pull within 5-3 ... Three different players tallied with Liam Moriarty assisting on the first two (JT Thomas, Brandon DeStasio).
  • Vassar's all-time leading scorer, Noah Parson, scored the third goal, his team-leading 18th of the season.

  • Five different players - Bastarache, Jacob Shavel, Kigar, Patrick Finn and Corey Burns - scored in the fourth for the Engineers ... Finn assisted on Shavel's goal and now has a team-high 17 helpers.
  • Crecco finished with 10 saves.
  • The game was RPI's first home game since March 12 ... The Engineers played four consecutive road games leading into Saturday's contest.
  • Rensselaer is now 18-0 all-time against the Brewers.
