GAMEDAY: Rensselaer (4-3) plays its third straight home game, this one a non-league contest against Castleton (3-5).

YELLOW LACES: At tonight's game, both the Engineers and the Spartans are wearing yellow shoelaces in support of go4thegoal Foundation to raise money in order to support children's cancer research ... Go4thegoal "helps kids with cancer reach their goals" and those who wish to contribute can do so at http://www.go4thegoal.org/.

HOME SWEET HOME: RPI is 3-1 at home this year, having defeated nationally-ranked Mount Holyoke (No. 20) and Montclair State (No. 7), along with Hamilton, but losing to No. 11 William Smith.

STREAK SNAPPED: Rensselaer had won seven consecutive games at Harkness Field, dating back to last season, before dropping a league game to William Smith on Saturday ... The Engineers were 8-1 on their home turf in 2015.

LAST YEAR VS. CASTLETON: Mekayla Wakeman scored twice and Celia D'Agostino had a goal and two assists to lead RPI to a 6-2 win at Castleton in the Engineers' final road game ... Trailing 2-1 in the second half, beginning when D'Agostino tied the game at 2-2 with a penalty stroke marker ... Colleen Fowler put the visitors ahead for the first time, off an assist from D'Agostino, under four minutes later ... Wakeman's first of the game, also set up by D'Agostino, came in the 54th minute and Jane Edgington made it a 5-2 score six minutes later ... Wakeman finished the scoring in the 69th minute with Edgington getting the assist ... Both of Wakeman's goals came from penalty corners ... Meeghan Doris stopped 10 of the 16 shots she faced for the Spartans, while Engineers' goalie Rachel Kaufman stopped 10 of the 12 shots that she saw for Rensselaer, which outshot Castleton 33-16, while holding an advantage in penalty corners, 11-4.

LAST TIME OUT: Hannah Wood scored three times with an assist and Maura Moran had two goals and two assists to lead No. 11 William Smith to a 5-1 win over the Engineers ... Junior Kate Batzinger scored the lone goal for RPI, connecting on a penalty stroke attempt ... Rachel Kaufman had four saves and Mekayla Wakeman added a defensive save ... The Herons, who were outshot 17-13, got seven saves from senior Biz Chirco ... The Engineers held a 12-7 lead in penalty corners

AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS: Freshman Nessa Costa is third in the Liberty League in game-winning goals with two ... Sophomore Mikaela DiBello is fourth in assists per game (0.571) and fifth in total assists (4), shots (29) and shots per game (4.14) ... Junior Megan Jones is tied with DiBello in both assists per game and total assists.

KAUFMAN LISTED: Sophomore goalie Rachel Kaufman is third in the Liberty League in shutouts per game (0.167), fourth in saves per game (4.50), fifth in goals against average (1.66) and seventh in save percentage (.730). 

TABBED: Engineers' sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Kaufman has been named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll three times this season ... Nessa Costa has been the Rookie of the Week once and Mikaela DiBello has earned Offensive Performer of the Week once.

CASTLETON TO DATE: The Spartans opened the season with a loss to Union (2-1) before defeating Morrisville State, 8-5 ... Castleton then beat Daniel Webster (10-1) before dropping four consecutive contests ... The Spartans snapped their losing streak with a 4-2 win over Maine-Farmington on Saturday in an NAC contest.

COMMON OPPONENT: Both Rensselaer and Castleton have played Mount Holyoke this season ... The Engineers defeated the Lyons, when they scored twice in a 1:18 span to gain the lead and held off No. 20 Mount Holyoke, 3-2 ... Jane Edgington and Nessa Costa scored back-to-back goals and Rachel Kaufman finished with six saves ... Castleton lost to the Lyons, 6-2, in South Hadley, Mass. ... Sarah Wells and Rachel Holland tallied for the Spartans, while Leah Holland made nine saves ... Meeghan Doris stopped four shots in relief.

HOME AGAIN: RPI's next home games is October 8 at 11am against nationally-ranked Skidmore.

2016 CAPTAINS: Senior midfielders Claire Cecilio, Colleen Fowler and Colleen Morris are Rensselaer's captains ... Cecilio played 17 games - all as a starter - in each of her first three years, tallying three goals and two assists ... Fowler had three goals and two assists for eight points - all career-highs - last season and now has six goals and two assists for 14 points ... In 12 games in 2015, Morris had a goal on seven shots (5 on goal) following earning an assist with four shots. in 17 games as a sophomore.
