#RPIWS Opens League Play Friday

Engineers take on RIT at East Campus Stadium (4pm)

LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Emily Kaplan scored in the 72nd minute as the Engineers defeated Plattsburgh, 1-0, on Monday night at ECAV Stadium.

IMPRESSIVE START
At 7-1, RPI is off to its best start since 2002, when it opened the season at 8-0. That team went 8-2-1 in non-conference play and was 12-5-1 overall.

CLEAN SHEETS
The Engineers have posted shutouts in six shutouts in their first eight games. Five have been credited to freshman Joey Lyons, while the sixth is a combined shutout between Lyons and junior Tori Riopelle.

LEAGUE PLAY BEGINS
RPI will be the final team in the Liberty League to open conference play, when it hosts RIT on Friday afternoon at ECAV (4pm).

AMONG THE LEADERS
Freshman goalie Joey Lyons leads the Liberty League in shutout percentage (.625) and is second in both goals against average (0.26) and save percentage (.929). Classmate Emily Kaplan is tied for sixth in goals (4).

FOR RIT
The Tigers are coming off of a 4-0 win over Clarkson in their league-opener. Anka Parzych recorded her fifth tally of the year in the victory.
