GAMEDAY (Jan. 17, 2017): The Engineers (6-9; 1-5 Liberty League) look to begin a winning streak when they host Vassar (8-8; 5-2) in a Liberty League game.

OVER THE WEEKEND: RPI dropped a 72-58 decision at William Smith on Friday before bouncing back to defeat RIT, 66-64, on Saturday to snap a five-game losing streak.

FRIDAY'S ACTION: Shaina Iton scored a career-high 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots, but the junior's effort was not enough as RPI dropped a Liberty League contest at William Smith, 72-58 ... The Engineers and Herons were tied 56-56 in the fourth quarter, but a 12-0 spurt by William Smith between the 3:41 and 1:01 marks of the fourth quarter put the home team ahead 68-56. 

SATURDAY'S ACTION: Sophomore Elizabeth Eckhardt scored on a layup with 13 seconds remaining to lift the Engineers to a 66-64 win over Liberty League foe RIT ... RPI trailed 64-63 when it regained the ball off a Shaina Iton block and a defensive rebound by Lauren Young ... After both teams called timeout with 15 seconds remaining, Eckhardt scored from the paint for a 65-64 lead ... An RIT miss was rebounded by LaKissa Martin and the sophomore made 1 of 2 free throws with two seconds left ... Iton had 14 points to go with a career-high 19 rebounds, while Young scored 15 points.

HONORED: Junior Shaina Iton was chosen as the Liberty League Performer of the Week after averaging 18.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocked shots in 37.5 minutes per game last week ... She also had two assists while shooting 55.6% (15 of 27) from the floor and 70% (7 of 10) from the foul line. 

ALL-TIME AGAINST VASSAR: The Engineers and Vassar have played 41 times with RPI holding a 27-14 advantage, including wins in the first five games of the series, which dates back to 1986.

ALL-TIME AT HOME: In 20 contests in Troy, the Engineers are 14-6 against the Brewers.

OF LATE: Vassar has the upper hand in the most recent meetings with Rensselaer, including four straight wins, an 8-2 mark in the last 10 and a 4-1 record in the last five games in Troy.

LAST SEASON: The Brewers scored a 72-58 win over the Engineers in Poughkeepsie last January 12 ... Vassar later won in Troy, 88-74 (Feb. 21).

VASSAR LAST WEEKEND: The Brewers defeated Clarkson (64-61) and St. Lawrence (58-40) on Friday and Saturday to claim a 3-0 week following a 101-31 win over Bard on Tuesday ... All three games were in Poughkeepsie.
