GAMEDAY (Jan. 20, 2017): The Engineers (6-10; 1-6 Liberty League) attempt to get back to their winning ways when they face Skidmore (9-6; 6-1) in a conference contest.

HOME STRETCH: Rensselaer is in the midst of a three-game homestand ... The Engineers played Vassar on Tuesday and host Union on Saturday.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Vassar outscored RPI by 10 points in the fourth quarter and the Brewers defeated the Engineers by seven, 71-64 ... Ariella Rosenthal had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead four Vassar student-athletes in double digits in points ... The Engineers, who held a 22-10 lead after the first quarter, got 17 points with 11 rebounds and three blocked shots from Shaina Iton ... Elizabeth Eckhardt had a team-high 18 points.

OVER THE WEEKEND: RPI dropped a 72-58 decision at William Smith last Friday before bouncing back to defeat RIT, 66-64, on Saturday.

LAST FRIDAY: Shaina Iton scored a career-high 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots, but the junior's effort was not enough as RPI lost at William Smith, 72-58 ... The Engineers and Herons were tied 56-56 in the fourth quarter, but a 12-0 spurt by William Smith between the 3:41 and 1:01 marks of the fourth quarter put the home team ahead for good. 

SATURDAY'S ACTION: Sophomore Elizabeth Eckhardt scored on a layup with 13 seconds remaining to lift the Engineers to a 66-64 win atRIT ... RPI trailed 64-63 when it regained the ball off a Shaina Iton block ... After a pair of timeouts, Eckhardt scored from the paint for a 65-64 lead ... An RIT miss was rebounded by LaKissa Martin, who made 1 of 2 free throws with three seconds left ... Iton had 14 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, while Lauren Young scored 15 points.

HONORED: Junior Shaina Iton was chosen as the Liberty League Performer of the Week after averaging 18.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocked shots in 37.5 minutes per game last week ... She also had two assists while shooting 55.6% (15 of 27) from the floor and 70% (7 of 10) from the foul line. 

ALL-TIME AGAINST SKIDMORE: The Engineers and Thoroughbreds have played 56 times with RPI holding a 35-21 advantage in the series, which dates back to 1976 ... The teams have split the last four contests.

ALL-TIME AT HOME: In 28 contests in Troy, the Engineers are 19-9 against the Thoroughbreds.

OF LATE: RPI is 3-7 in its last 10 against Skidmore, including a 62-53 loss earlier this season ... Kelly Donnelly had 21 points in the win, while Sam Krumbhaar scored 19 for Rensselaer.
