TROY, N.Y. - Union College outscored Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 18-6 in the fourth quarter and the Dutchwomen defeated the Engineers, 48-40, in a Liberty League contest at East Campus Arena. Union, which held RPI to just one field goal in the final frame, improves to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference. The Engineers, who got a game-high 10 points from Elizabeth Eckhardt, fall to 6-12 and 1-8.

Trailing by four points heading into the final frame, the Dutchwomen immediately pulled to within a point on a three-point basket from Jenni Barra (Loudonville, NY / Shaker). The score remained that way, 34-33, until the 7:57 mark when Union took a 35-34 lead on a Sophie Borg (Farmington, CT / Farmington) hoop. Baskets by both Barra and Borg made it a 9-0 run and a 39-34 lead for the visitors.

RPI's LaKissa Martin (Las Vegas, NV / Rancho) snapped the string with a free throw, but the Dutchwomen managed a three-pointer and a free throw for an eight-point bulge, 43-35, with under two minutes to play. Sam Krumbhaar (Glen Burnie, MD / North County) answered with a three-pointer, but five free throws made it a 10-point game, 48-38, with less than a minute to play.

Eight different student-athletes scored for Union, led by freshman guard Juliana Dunlop's (North Conway, NH / Kennett) nine points. Senior Erin Lyons (Pittsford, NY / Pittsford Mendon) had eight points, seven rebounds and four steals, while Nicole Conley (Scotia, NY / Scotia-Glenville), a sophomore, had eight, eight and two.
