CANTON, N.Y. - Sam Krumbhaar and Elizabeth Eckhardt combined for 40 points, but the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team fell at St. Lawrence University, 76-57. The Saints outscored the Engineers by 17 points in the middle two quarters and the deficit was too much for RPI to overcome.

RPI opened the game well and held a 19-15 edge after the first 10 minutes, but the Saints battled back to hold a 32-28 lead heading into the locker room at halftime. St. Lawrence continued to build momentum in the third quarter and scored a combined total of 37 points between the second and third quarters.

The Saints added another 24 points in the fourth quarter, with 15 of the 24 in the final three minutes to put the game away.

Krumbhaar connected on 6 of 10 shots from the floor and 6 of 8 from the free throw line to earn game-high honors. She also had six rebounds. Eckhardt, who also made six shots from the field, had six rebounds as well. Junior Shaina Iton had a game-best 13 boards, along with seven points and a pair of blocked shots.

Junior Kaelyn Kohlasch led SLU with 17 points, going 3-for-5 from the 3-point arc. She was followed closely by sophomore Meghan Hynes, who tallied 15 points and snagged five rebounds, and junior Jenny Scudder, who scored 13 points and shot 50% from behind the arc. Shayna Davner also contributed 12 points.

The Saints improved to 7-10 overall and 4-5 in Liberty League play, just one game out of fourth place in the conference. RPI fell to 6-13, 1-9.
