POTSDAM, N.Y. - Clarkson University went on a 10-0 run late in the first quarter and then outscored Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) by 10 points in the second on its way to a 74-70 win over the Engineers in a Liberty League contest at Alumni Gymnasium. Sam Krumbhaar, drops to 6-14 and 1-10.
Rensselaer held an 11-8 lead with 3:19 to play in the first quarter, thanks in part to six points from

The Golden Knights went on to score the first seven points of the second quarter for an 11-point advantage, 25-14, before two minutes elapsed in the period. The Engineers chipped away in the third quarter, outscoring Clarkson by four points to get the deficit to 10 points, 58-48. RPI strung together 10 straight points for a seven-point deficit (55-48), but a three-pointer from Sorell with two seconds left made it a 10-point game heading into the fourth.
The teams traded baskets for the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter before Krumbhaar made a three-point shot and Goodell hit a free throw to get RPI within six points, 64-58. However, Sorell answered once again, making a basket and the ensuing free throw for a three-point play that slowed the Engineers' momentum.
Krumbhaar came back with a three-pointer and a layup, but Clarkson had success at the free throw line, led by Sorell who made five from the charity stripe.
Sorell, who was 8 of 25 from the field and 4 of 9 from the foul line, added four rebounds, three assists and a steal in 37 minutes. Stewart finished with 15 points and six rebounds, while Alyssia Marshal grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
