MEET TIME (JANUARY 28, 2017): The Engineers (7-0 men; 6-1 women) host Hamilton College (1-3 men; 0-4 women) in RPI's final dual meet of the season.
SENIOR DAY: Rensselaer would like to recognize eight individuals who have dedicated a tremendous amount of time, effort and energy to the swimming & diving programs over the past four years ... They are this year's senior class - Richard Dong,
Annika Lindstrom, Andrew Klobucher,
Anna Drechsler,
Kathryn Liotta,
Barb Long &
Siena Sara - all of whom have helped the Engineers reach accomplishments not previously met by RPI Swimming & Diving ... Also being recognized is junior Brandon Koo, who is in the Accelerated Pre-Med program in conjunction with Albany Medical College and will not have the opportunity to swim next year ... THANK YOU ALL!
LAST SATURDAY: Both RPI teams eclipsed the 160 point mark in defeating Skidmore at Robison Pool ... The No. 23 men won 166-97, while the No. 23 women were victorious, 164-97 ... Combined, the Engineers won all but three events ... Multiple individuals earned first place finishes either on their own or as part of a relay ... Senior Richard Dong won the 50 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke and was part of the victorious 200 medley relay team ... Noah Pan won a pair of individual events, taking the 100 free and the 200 individual medley ...
Danielle Sauve had the most wins on the day with victories in the 200 medley relay, 50 breaststroke, 500 free and 200 individual medley ... Her twin sister, Jessica, was first in the 200 free, the 100 free and the 50 fly ...
Shanny Lin won the 1000 free  and the 100 backstroke and senior
Siena Sara took the 100 breast and was part of the 200 medley relay team ... In diving, freshman
Jessica Kugelman won off both boards.
WEEKLY AWARDS:
Jessica Kugelman was selected as the Women's Rookie of the Week by the Liberty League, marking the second straight week and fourth time this season she has been recognized ... She was also selected as the top rookie by the ECAC ... Chosen to the league's Weekly Honor Roll was junior
Danielle Sauve and senior Richard Dong.
ACADEMIC HONORS: The CSCAA has announced its Scholar All-America Teams and both Rensselaer teams are included ... The awards are in recognition of teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2016 Fall Semester ... The women's team, which is made up of 20 individuals, had an athletic department-high 3.43 GPA in the fall semester with a 3.42 cumulative average ... Sixteen members had at least a 3.0 with 14 earning a 3.50 or better ... Three student-athletes had perfect 4.0 averages ... RPI's men had a 3.11 term GPA with a 3.07 cumulative average ... Twenty-one of the 30 members had a 3.0 or better with 13 having a 3.5 or better ... Two had perfect marks in the fall.
DEPARTMENT ACADEMICS: Rensselaer Athletics had 17 teams (of 21) with term GPAs of 3.0 or better in the fall ... The men's average was 3.07 with the women at 3.24 ... In total, RPI's 608 student-athletes averaged a 3.13.
UPCOMING: RPI closes out the regular season on February 15-18 at the NYS Championship.Â

Siena Sara ... Drechsler and Lindstrom are second-year captains, while this is the first season in that role for Long and Sara ... All four student-athletes are seniors ... The men have two captains, both seniors in their first seasons in doing so ... They are Richard Dong and Andrew Klobucher.
